The UK's trusted Ministry of Defence partner, MBDA, are looking for an experienced Procurement Support professional to manage spending across several areas such as IT, Construction, Facilities Management, HR, Consultancy and Engineering Service at the Stevenage site.

As a Procurement Support professional, you'll be enthusiastic and passionate to join the team as the focal point for raising orders that come into the unit but also to grow into the role and take on other procurement activities such as support on tenders, negotiations with suppliers and working with Internal stakeholders. In addition, liaising with Internal Customers, Bought Ledger, and vendors to resolve purchase order and invoice queries and facilitate timely and accurate payments.

The role is a fantastic opportunity for an individual new to procurement or looking to get into a career in procurement-a professional who is keen to learn and develop in the role. The proper mindset and soft skills are a must. The contract is a 9-12-month role with the potential for the respectable candidate to transition into a permanent position.

  • Responsibilities include processing of electronic and manual requisitions.
  • Compiling supporting data packs using PDM.
  • Use of SAP to raise request for quotations (RFQ)
  • Creating Excel spread sheets to assess the data to aid supplier selection process.
  • Raising purchase orders within SAP.
  • Progressing of orders to ensure on-time delivery to the internal customers.
  • Purchase order amendment in line with changing delivery forecasts post order acknowledgment.
  • Maintain dialogue with internal customers to ensure topical delivery forecast are maintained.
  • Holding & supporting operational business reviews

Administration:

  • Liaise with both Bought Ledger and vendors to resolve Invoice queries and enable timely and accurate payments.
  • Data cleansing of SAP to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Quality assessment of suppliers (ZELDA). Distribution of monthly reports to vendors and ensuring correct reason codes are annotated, enabling accurate reports for delivery and quality purposes.

What we're looking for:

  • Proactive approach, flexible self-starter
  • IT Literate - Must be able to use Microsoft Office (Word; PowerPoint; Excel; Outlook) proficiently. (A working knowledge of SAP is an advantage.)
  • Education: Educated to basic secondary level: (Maths, English to O/A level/GCSE/NVQ as a minimum)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good relations with internal and external customers suppliers.
  • Ability to work under pressure to deadlines in a professional manner
  • Experience in working with E-Procurement (Preferably iValua) platforms desirable to raise POs, create suppliers and conduct risk checks
  • Knowledge of the procurement process and cycle (Desirable but not a must)
