The role Are you organised, focused, naturally empathetic and passionate about improving children and young people's emotional and mental health? Do you have a strong background in delivering excellent Children and families support? Action for Children are proud to announce that from 1st April 2020, we have been delivering a targeted early intervention service for children and young people aged 5-18 and their families across Staffordshire in partnership with our Health and Digital partners.

The service will work with children and young people who need specialist support but who do not meet the thresholds for more specialist services. These children and young people are likely to present with mild to moderate emotional health and wellbeing problems (i.e. Anxiety, Conduct disorders) and require support to help them deal with issues such as bereavement, parental separation, self-esteem, bullying, transitions, sexuality, and behaviour at home/school. The collaborative model is designed to increase resilience and reduce the development of more entrenched mental health issues. You will receive clinical case consultation from psychologists as part of the support and professional development on offer.

We will be working out of 2 interventions hubs in Staffordshire one in Newcastle-under-Lyme and another in Armitage and delivering services countywide through a community-based approach. The purpose of the service is to deliver programmes of one to one/family support based on personalised interventions unique to every child, with an emphasis on building resilience in children and young people, supporting good attachment and establishing evidence-based outcomes. The service also offers group interventions, a digital offer and evidence-based programmes for children and their parents. We require staff to work in both hubs however we have more roles available in the Lichfield Tamworth and Burton areas of the county.

You will make a difference by: - Working in the team to deliver the programme to groups of children and families.

-Collaboratively with parents/carers and children.

- Providing children and families with information and skills to help them support their needs through a variety of challenges.

-Empowering families to make positive changes.

You will need:

-Exposure of working within the 5-18 age range.

-Relevant NVQ level 3 or previous experience working with children and families.

-Confidence to conduct 1-2-1 sessions and group work.

-Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.

-Good communication skills, both written and spoken.

-Willingness to be part of a team and multi-agency working.

-Flexibility around rota.

-Car user essential as the role will involve travelling.
