Giving children and young people the foundations they need to thrive.

The role

Staffordshire Emotional Wellbeing service is a targeted early intervention service for children and young people aged 5-18 and their families across Staffordshire in partnership with our Health and Digital partners. We work with children and young people who need specialist support but who do not meet the thresholds for more specialist services. These children and young people are likely to present with mild to moderate emotional health and wellbeing problems (i.e. Anxiety, Conduct disorders) and require support to help them deal with issues such as bereavement, parental separation, self-esteem, bullying, transitions, sexuality, and behaviour at home/school. The collaborative model is designed to increase resilience and reduce the development of more entrenched mental health issues.

We are looking for a Young Person Practitioner, who will work out of our intervention hub in North Staffordshire, delivering services countywide through a community-based approach. The purpose of the service will be to deliver programmes of one to one/family support based on personalised interventions unique to every child, with an emphasis on building resilience in children and young people, supporting good attachment and establishing evidence-based outcomes. The service will also offer group interventions, a digital offer and evidence-based programmes for children and their parents. Full training on the programme will be given with peer support.

You will make a difference by:

- Working in the team to deliver the programme to groups of children and families.

- Working collaboratively with parents/carers and children.

- Providing children and families with information and skills to help them support their needs through a variety of challenges.

- Empowering families to make positive changes.

You will need:

- Relevant Diploma Level 3 or previous experience working with children and families.

- Exposure of working within the 5-18 age range.

- Confidence to conduct 1-2-1 sessions and group work that support children and young people's emotional health and wellbeing.

- Experience of delivering NICE approved emotional wellbeing interventions to children and young people.

- Access to a vehicle and a current driving license is essential. The job requires the ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act.
