Giving children and young people the foundations they need to thrive.
The role
Our Turning the Corner project works in partnership with East Ayrshire Council providing support to young people aged mainly 12-21 years. We offer a flexible, responsive, service with a focus on the whole systems approach with the aim to divert young people from the criminal justice system. Interventions offered will include a combination of 1:1 and family support, peer mentoring, group work and positive diversionary activities.
As a young person's practitioner you will actively engage with young people, families and communities in the approach to reduce and prevent offending by promoting and building positive consistent relationships to help develop social networks and build resilience leading to a more positive outcome for the young person.
You will make a difference by:
-Overseeing, delivering and evaluating group and individual work aimed at supporting young people to develop their own abilities through assessment, intervention discussions, information and practical work.
-Motivating and encouraging young people to engage with the service and recognise their potential to rebuild their futures and avoid future offending
-Working with young people and their families to provide practical, personal and emotional support to meet their needs and have a positive impact on their lives.
-Promoting health & wellbeing, using accredited models.
-Liaising with local agencies and working in partnership with East Ayrshire Council.
-Attending meetings as required.
You will need:
-Experience of working with young people in a youth justice environment
-SVQ level 3 health & social care or equivalent.
-The ability to engage with young people and their families
-Experience of multi-agency working
-The ability to write and present written reports for court and statutory partners
-A valid UK driving licence.
