We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Children's Services Practitioner to join our team in the South Lanarkshire area. The role

The intensive intervention service provides support for young people aged 15.5-21 who are involved in offending behaviours and other high-risk behaviours. Our aim to reduce offending and other risks by providing a holistic approach to working with the young person and their families. Our work focuses on both early and crisis intervention which can include direct court support and support to access housing. We work with Partner organisations to move young people into positive destinations.

You will be instrumental in maximising and coordinating opportunities within the local community to maximise employment prospects, providing a rewarding and meaningful experience and adding value to service provision.

This part time role is to work Wed, Thu and Fri each week, 7hrs per day. Occasional evening and weekend work may required where the need arises. The position can be based in any of the services in the South Lanarkshire locality.

The person

You'll need:

  • Minimum SVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care and an HNC in Health and Social care
  • Hold a driving license and have access to a vehicle
  • Have experience of facilitating group work and also one to one work
  • Have previous experience of forming strong relationships with support services
  • Previous experience of engaging with young people, preferably gained within a similar project.
  • The ability to work in a constantly changing environment where work priorities and targets may change
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and motivate others.
  • To work with other departments to ensure that we deliver Action for Children's values.
  • To follow health, environmental and safety policies
  • To achieve the highest standards of safeguarding, whether through direct care, support activities or reporting concerns about any child or young person.
  • To be committed to Action for Children's defining statement, "keeping the child at the centre," and promoting our participation standards in your work.
