The role

Haydock Short Breaks is a new service providing a 6 bedded service to children and their families aged 9 to 17 years of age. The service supports children and young people who have various disabilities and complex needs. The aim is to ensure they are surrounded by a fun and welcoming environment, allowing them to flourish and enjoy their special stays.

As an Assistant Residential Worker Waking Nights, it will be your responsibility to liaise with the children, young people and their families to ensure that their care is always to the best possible standard.

You will make a difference by:

- Supporting children during the night. Shifts can vary but your role will start late evening and finish the next morning. You will be working so awake, during these hours.

- Ensuring regular checks of the young people as in line with the project and individual procedures.

- Ensuring the children and young people are safe and all their personal cares needs are met.

- Supporting Residential Workers with case/care planning management for individual children or young people at night, following a care plan for night-time and supporting young people with agreed outcomes.

- Working on waking night shifts with accountability for service delivery, assessing and managing risks, deploying staff and resources accordingly while on the shift and to maintain personalised high quality care that is outcome focused for children and young people and apply agreed organisational procedures to ensure the safe care and management of children and young people in our care.

- Building and maintaining professional positive working relationships, by providing emotional and social support to children and young people during the night who can display challenging emotional and social difficulties.


You will need:

- Work Night shifts on a 24/7 basis as required by the establishment.

- Experience of working with children or young people (experience working with children with disabilities would be an advantage)

- Level 3 QCF Working with Children and Young People or equivalent is desirable, or the willingness to work towards this.

- A positive and confident approach to engaging with children and young people.

- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
