The role

Norfolk's Early Childhood and Family Service provide targeted support to families with children aged 0-5 years. The service offers a range of early childhood services for parents, prospective parents and young children to support in areas including bonding, speech and language development, parenting challenges, mental well-being and healthy relationships

The East Norfolk team covers a large geographical area of rural areas in East Norfolk as well as Great Yarmouth and Gorleston. You may be required to work in other districts when required.

As Family Support Worker you will support the development of children by creating fun and stimulating environments to enhance skills and promote emotional resilience and positive behaviour.


You will make a difference by:

- Providing rich learning environments where children and their families can engage in stimulating play opportunities.

- Facilitating interventions one to one or in a group to support identified areas of need e.g. infant massage, speech and language development.

- Being alert to child protection and safeguarding issues and inform appropriate line managers.

You will need:

- Level 2 or above qualification in social care, health, education or early years.

- Experience of delivering one to one or group support to children and families using the early years foundation stage (or similar).

- Good IT skills and ability to record concise, accurate case notes.

- Ability to build safe and effective working relationships with vulnerable young children and adults.

- Ability and willingness to work in a variety of premises across the county (the role will be required to work across more than one district at times).
