💰 £13.07 per hour (PAYE)
📅 Start Date: 13 April 2026
📄 Contract: Maternity cover (until end of November 2026, approx. 6-7 months)
🕒 Hours: Monday-Friday, 08:30-17:00 (37.5 hours per week)

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Controls Administrator to join a busy payroll team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience within a structured payroll environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all payroll control tasks are completed in line with statutory deadlines and GDPR requirements
  • Support continuous improvement by reviewing processes and identifying efficiencies
  • Manage and prioritise workload to meet payroll deadlines
  • Run reports and carry out quality checks on payroll data
  • Perform independent checks and resolve discrepancies, escalating where necessary
  • Process BACS payments and perform validation checks
  • Run and distribute post-payroll reports
  • Submit payroll data (FPS/EPS) to HMRC within deadlines
  • Respond to statutory notifications (e.g. HMRC, DWP, pensions bodies)
  • Maintain accurate records using CRM systems
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Stay up to date with payroll legislation and best practices

Skills & Experience



Essential:

  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player with a proactive attitude


Desirable:

  • Experience in payroll, finance, or transactional processing
  • Knowledge of payroll systems (e.g. iTrent)
  • Experience with CRM systems
  • Understanding of payroll, HR, or pensions processes
  • CIPP qualification (or working towards) is desirable, it is not essential for this role
