The role
Beaumonds Short Break Service is situated in the South West area in the outskirts of Bath and has five bedrooms mixed for both female and males. The service will provide short breaks to the families or carers of children and young people between the ages of 8 - 18 years with a learning disability and / or with complex health needs. Our approach is based in relationship -based practice placing the emphasis on the professional relationship in which staff can engage with and intervene in the complexity of a Child's or Young Person's internal and external world.
The successful applicant will hold legal responsibility for the management and leadership of a children's residential home, setting the values, principles and ethos of the home in line with - national standards and Action for Children policy, procedure and expectations, leading to the delivery of high quality care that achieves positive and agreed outcomes for children and young people and an outstanding or good or equivalent rating in external inspections.
You will make a difference by:
- Managing on a day to day basis a service that meets all the requirements of Action for Children and the regulating body's expectations of a good, outstanding or equivalent service through robust planning, review and monitoring of the policy practice and procedure throughout the service.
- Leading and being accountable for the achievement of positive outcomes for children and young people and drive continuous improvement by using performance data and evidence-based outcome measures in line with Action for Children and commissioner requirements.
- Managing and be responsible for all aspects of the home, ensuring the team provides innovative, responsive, high quality and person centered services to children, young people and their families based on an assessment of need that is regularly and professionally reviewed and is outcomes driven.
- Leading, inspiring, motivaiting and managing a team of workers and support staff, ensuring the service is appropriately staffed and covered at all times in line with regulatory requirements. Ensure that all line reports manage staff in accordance with agreed procedures and equally apply the same high standards of management.
- Ensuring systems and processes are in place and applied to enable all legal and statutory records to be maintained in line with regulatory and organisational requirements. To complete quality self- assessment report within timescales and to a high professional standard.
- Managing a delegated budget, ensuring effective and efficient management of expenditure in the home/service in line with Action for Children policy, regulatory requirements and procedure and financial requirements.
You will need:
- A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or an equivalent Level 5 Diploma as defined by the DFE Guide to Children's Homes Regulations, 2015.
- To be competent and experienced working with children and young people who exhibit very challenging emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- The ability to support the delivery of outstanding care standards and achieving objectives to improve outcomes for children.
- Proven ability to develop trust, rapport, influence and credibility with a staff team.
- An understanding of and application of equality and diversity as a manager of staff and of a front line service.
- Knowledge and understanding of the CQC regulations, OFSTED and safeguarding practices and how to achieve and maintain the best quality service.
- Experience leading a team and or strong leadership qualities.
- Strong verbal and communication skills with the ability to converse with individuals of all backgrounds.
