The role

Action for Children Monksfield provides care and support to children aged 6-18 years with moderate to severe learning disabilities and or complex health and physical disabilities. We have two homes based in Hexham Northumberland - Acorn provides short break residential care and Adlin House is a 4-bedded long-stay Children's Home.

We are a highly motivated and supportive team and are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and competent team leader.

As the Team Leader, reporting to the Registered Manager, you will spend time supporting and managing a staff team through supervision, appraisals, team meetings and running a live rota. You will also work directly, as a shift leader, with the young people in the home, following individual care plans. You will work within the relevant legislation and ensure a high quality of care is provided to all young people as part of the wider multidisciplinary care team.

This role will be working 37 hours a week on a shift basis and will involve a balance of administrative duties and practical work with the young people. This role will require some waking nights and sleep in's as part of the rota.


You will make a difference by:

- Having responsibility for the day to day management of the service in accordance with national standards and legislation.

- Being responsible for the supervision, appraisal, learning and development of the team.

- Focusing on outcome-led care for the children and young people living in the home

You will need:

- Experience of working in a residential service.

- Experience in caring for children and young people with learning disabilities.

- Experience of supervising staff

- NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent.

- An outcome-focussed attitude.

- A proven track record of managing staff in the context of supporting and developing people.

- The ability to work shifts on a rota basis and participate in the On-Call Rota.
