The role

Intensive Supervised Structured Care (ISSC) work with vulnerable and high risk young people aged 13 to 20 with significant social, emotional and behavioural needs. By helping them understand their behaviour, social issues and emotional wellbeing, they are supported to make safe and positive choices. This includes therapeutic intervention, life skills and support to access education/training.

As a Team Leader, you will co-ordinate robust case management for our young people and take the lead on delivering key outcomes based on a multi-agency approach, under the GIRFEC framework. You will have a strong focus on risk management in way which empowers young people and builds resilience whilst at the same time ensuring their safety. You will demonstrate a high standard of person centred practice and be a strong role model to the staff team, with good leadership skills and a strong belief in the process of reflective supervision. Your weekly rota will be made up of 1 x 12.5hr shift and 3 remaining shifts (approx 8hrs each) although we do require flexibility on this depending on the service needs. The on call rota is a mix and match of both week days and weekends and this is agreed with your manager in advance.


You will make a difference by:

- Managing and leading a team of residential professionals and other staff as directed in the delivery of 24 hour care, utilising Action for Children policies and procedures to enable staff to provide a responsive, high quality person centered service.

- Sharing responsibility for a delegated part of the service and allocated resources. Applying the self-evaluation quality assessment framework to ensure that the service is meeting regulatory requirements and to take relevant action to address any shortfalls, in consultation with the Registered Manager.

- Being responsible for ensuring a safe and positive work environment is achieved through compliance with all safeguarding, safer recruitment, health and safety and behaviour support policies and procedures within the defined area of responsibility

- Delivering services and leading by example to ensure that staff are supporting the young people to achieve their full potential; providing a loving and nurturing environment, promoting open and honest communication, supporting participation in a range of activities, and meeting day to day needs identified through robust care planning and risk management.

- Directing and having direct responsibility for complex case management; undertaking assessment of need, developing a care plan and identifying agreed outcomes and carrying out regular review in conjunction with young people, their families and other professionals.



You will need:

- Must possess Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (to be achieved within 2 years of taking up post- Scotland to possess SVQ4 Leadership & Management).

- Experience working with children, young people, their families and carers to promote and to ensure safeguarding and the welfare of the child / young person.

- The ability to provide reflective practice supervision, ensuring an outcomes focused approach to working with children and young people.

- Experience managing staff and providing visible and effective leadership and management by example.

- The ability to work rotas providing 24/7 cover and to participate in an on call rota.
