About the Role

We are currently recruiting an experienced Children's Social Worker to join our team in Bedford. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of children, young people, and families by providing high-quality, relationship-based social work practice.

You will work in partnership with children and their families, undertake detailed assessments, and plan and deliver effective interventions in line with statutory requirements. The role requires excellent communication, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage complex caseloads confidently and independently.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Build effective relationships with children, young people, and families/carers to elicit their needs, promote participation in decision-making, and support positive outcomes.

  2. Undertake high-quality assessments in accordance with statutory and operational standards, ensuring risks are identified and managed appropriately.

  3. Plan, implement, and review interventions tailored to individual needs, ensuring best outcomes for children and families.

  4. Manage a complex workload independently, drawing on internal and external expertise and modelling effective workload management for colleagues.

  5. Use supervision proactively for reflective practice, continuous learning, and career development.

  6. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in line with council policies, producing clear, analytical, and evidence-based reports.

  7. Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to assess, plan, and support the needs of families, promoting safety, independence, and positive change.

  8. Contribute to practice development, mentoring and modelling good practice within the team and supporting continuous improvement.
